I recently picked up a 235 engine out of a 57 chevy 3100. I put it in my 54 chevy 3100 and I am going to try and get it running in the next few weeks. I thought I could find a new aftermarket carb but so far my search has turned up nothing. Maybe the stock carb works well enough that aftermarkets are not needed or available. What does everyone run for carbs? So far I have not even found a rebuild kit for my stock carb. Can anyone suggest a source for that? The engine has not ran for 30 years so I'm sure the carb could use a rebuild if I decide to use it.

Thanks

The "universal" carburetor you may find... isn't.

Kits are available at most of the usual vendors. You will need the make and numbers off it in order to get the right one. Also, member Carbking sells carb repair parts. You have enough posts to send him a PM. Search the members list and click on his handle for contact info.🛠

The lLast time I checked, Carbking was not accepting PM's. Check his profile and use the website that's posted for his business. If you're dealing with a Rochester, you're probably out of luck with Jon- - - - -he's about as fond of those carburetors as I am of rattlesnakes.

Jerry - you misunderstand. I LOVE Rochester type B carburetors. Best excuse in the world to sell a customer a Carter to replace it! wink

And you are correct about PM's. While I understand the owners of the website are trying to help member communications, every website has a different method of PM. Remember the cliché with the old dog, and tricks wink Easier for me to accept emails (they all work the same way) than to try to figure out PM protocol for each website.

And Jonald - repair kits for your original carb are quite available. You simply need the number of the triangular tag when ordering.

Jon.
