My GMC 270 has what appears to be a 7/8" pulley on the crank and on the water pump. The ac delco generator has another sized pulley. As a result I am shredding belts. I am struggling to find a pulley for the generator. Any advice, contacts, links etc. would be appreciated.

7/8 inch? That seems a bit large. Chevy's of those years have a 5/8 inch pulley at crank, water pump and generator.

7/8" on my 54/55 GMC 270

I think I found one, somehow, on Rockauto.com. Someone on oldGMCtrucks.com gave me a brand and part number, I think.

That person alo suggested using a 3/4" belt as a fall-back.

I'll see if I can find that info.

'54 GMC has 7/8 belts. Search at alternator/gen. shop for the correct pulley.

Does the correct pulley have two grooves?

Tom, I tried to send you a pm, but apparently you are over your topic limit.
I have a complete generator with a 7/8 pulley off a '54 302. Hasn't been tested, but looks and feels runnable. Certainly rebuildable.
6 volt I'm assuming. $50+$14 shipping. Let me know.

This is not the Swap Meet.

That poster has only been here once - the time he made that one post.
For good reason, he connot use the Sawp Meet until he has made a few more posts.

He could have put his email address in his profile.

If one does not need them, not have to use all belts.
