Not sure what to look for with this. Had truck out, was inching backwards as I put my clutch in, As I let off the clutch in forward gear, I heard a clang from the rear axle. Now it wont move. The driveshaft spins into the rear axle, took pumpkin cover off and ring and pinion are moving with drive shaft. No broken parts or large parts of metal visible. When truck is in gear, I have movement on the right side with the ring and pinion but the left stays stationary. Anything obvious I can check ? Is this a symptom of a broken axle shaft ? I saw the axle shaft ends and they appeared ok, but didnt pull them out. Any help would be appreciated.

Does sound like a broken axle shaft. Pull right side and see where the break is.

What year are we talking about?

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
