I can't seem to get it through my pea brain how the odometer wheels go together in relation to each other. I have read the tech tips but still have the question. One side has the gear teeth all around and the other just has one place where the gear catches. Can someone tell me how you place them so when one goes around and flips the next one? Thanks.

I believe the geared sides all go to the left [later years anyway] - the single tab sides to the right, to catch the next higher number - numbers all right side up at any rate, and the "plates" between

Thanks Bill. So I would set them all to zero and the single tabs are only engaged when it is time for that wheel to turn? Seems like they would change by vibration before that time.

if you get it all together right, the wheels can't possibly move without being driven, no vibration involved - the single tabs are like a one tooth gear, when the lower number goes past 9 the tab pushes the next wheel one notch [one number], and if that wheel was on 9 and moves to zero, its tab pushes the next wheel one number higher .... you can set them all anywhere, but you need to have them all in correctly with the plates between properly, otherwise they might be advancing at the wrong time - if you've replaced the numbers without noting the correct positions of the wheels there's a good chance of problems frown

I'll check to see if I replaced the numbers correctly. So all the single tabs will be engages with the small gear that is in each plate?
