Looking at filler neck and trying to determine if it is wise to try to remove neck where it appears to be bolted on. It would greatly improve my ability to inspect, clean and repair. The question is, if the flange going to come off easy are there gasket parts for it and if it does not want to come off should I just leave it alone? Has anyone had experience with this gas tank model including the filler neck? Pictures of tank and a closeup of the neck are in my photo album. 48 Loadmaster Photo Album Roger Burgoyne Member # 42,919 1948 Chevrolet 1-1/2 Ton Loadmaster w/Dump Terre de Bourgogne Llama Ranch, Arizona | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 | I never messed with the filler neck on my '48 1.5ton. I was able to see everything I needed with the panel over the float removed.

Although it looked to be bolted on it was in fact bolted and soldered on. I took to a good old fashioned radiator shop and they were able to clean the tank and fit the filler neck back on. Seemed routine to them! | | | | Joined: Apr 2017 Posts: 16 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2017 Posts: 16 | Thanks Curt, I will give that a try before anything more. I'll try and take a peak via the sending unit if it comes off easy. Then decide about a radiator shop. Appreciate your input.
