- Warm the engine then let it cool down
- Follow torque sequence
- One bolt at a time, back off 1/2 turn then torque to 90-95 pounds. No need to do in steps like 30, 60, 90.

Right. The only time I've seen that is for wheel bearings. Torque down to seat while rotating, back off and torque again, then back off 1/x turns. That's better than the "Torque 'em down till the break and back off a 1/2 turn" method.
