Has anyone ever used Chassis Saver paint for their frame sold by magnetpaints.com? I had some one recommend here local and handled the samples painted on metal sheets. It seems like a good product and comes recommended.
I also had a shop recommed Gator Grip and ordered some of it.
Any comments on either product?

Wasat, I have never tried either of those 2 products, but I know of several who have used the chassis saver and they all liked the results.
i am about to start in on my frame and would like to get some feedback on other products as well. For now, I have sanded out the frame and I have a light amount of pitting/rust, so I thought I would try rust mort. After that, I will spray a self etching primer followed by some sort of chassis black....

From what I have been told and seen. Neither of the above products need a primer from what I understand since they are also rust inhibitors.
I would feel better with a etching primer also as long as it did not effect the products overall performance.
From what I understand the Gator Grip can be applied several different ways for different looks and does not dull down or get gray over time. Kind of like the bed liner paint kits.
The Chassis Saver comes in several different finishes, gloss. semi gloss and flat. I have handled it on a piece of metal, it had been bent, beat with a hammer, stomped, scraped bent some more and many other abuses over a year period on the paint shop counter and I did not see a nick, crack or scratch in the finish. Even after I beat and bent on it a while.
I am leaning towards the Chassis Saver product, seems I can't find too many shops that use it to have a bad word about it, except don't get it on your skin unless you want to wear it a while, as in weeks.
Now if the paint ever gets here I can get the frame to the sandblasters.

Rusty Rod put some POR-15 on his frame 5-6 years ago, and It still looks nice.

I've been watching all these specilty paints that have come on the market in the last few years. What's the problem with good old reliable, Rustoleum? I've been using it for over 55 years and 99% of my machinery and what-tall is painted with it. It's been around for around 80 years, they must know what they are doing by now. They make it for no rust, light rust, and heavy rust, plus ya can get it ANYWHERE, cheap!

ps. I stopped by the powder coater the other day and they just took a frame out of the oven, I gotta have one of those!!!! The most beautiful finish on a frame that I have ever seen, short of a show quality custom clearcoated paint job. A tad more than brushin on the rustoleum, but it might be worth it. If ya got the frame dipped down to bare metal, I'll bet the powder coat wouldn't be all that much.

What is the proper/original color for frames? I see a lot of cars restored to "original" on the auctions having gloss frames. I thought they were e-coated from the factory or had a mat-black finish. Anybody know for sure???
