Just don't leave the 12 volt hooked up more the a few seconds. It might go boom!💥 The 6 volt battery that is. The starter doesn't care but the battery does. ðŸ›

Most electrical devices are made to handle 20% above or below spec. A 6 volt starter will take the added pressure of a 12 volt battery, just don't crank it for a extended period of time! If you keep doing it, eventually it will not survive the added voltage.

Think most here will say With 12 v applied the current flow ( amps) will be half that of the 6 volt .........so the starter will be just fine if not better off with 12 volts. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,876 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,876 | Think most here will say With 12 v applied the current flow ( amps) will be half that of the 6 volt Did somebody repeal Ohm's law? Yes........ I was thinking volt x amp = watts.........not thinking the motor winding resistance did not change...........but the starter will still be happy at 12 volts.
