Wondering what the factory colors were for the starter and generator on my 235. Painting the engine back to the original grey after repairing various leaks and now would be a great time to clean them up and paint them. Pretty sure the generator would be black, not sure of the pulley and bracket.
Totally lost as far as what color the starter was. This engine was a combination of the original grey, chevy blue and partially black!

Sorry, deleted to rewrite. The factory photos I find and the NOS parts I find, show black generator case with aluminum color end plates and black pulley/fan blades and brackets.
Starter shows all black except nose is unpainted. Some have "aluminum" colored end plate also. Many end plates are aluminum.
When I have a question about "factory" correct, I go to Ebay and search factory sales brochures for sale, for the year/model in question. Many are black and white. None have actual photos and some are "artist deceptions". But they do pay off sometimes.

generator case and fan pulley Delco Semi-gloss black....Aluminum end plates natural aluminum. Starter Delco semi gloss black on case, drive end housing and end plate. by 1958 they were several years into the stamped steel end plate with brushes made into the case but I have seen a few with an odd looking aluminum plate but not often. If you do have that aluminum plate it would be natural, steel End plate was black.
