So one of my trucks is titled as a 1944 truck, the serial number starts with 9MS26, then has the 4 digit number stamped. After reading the articles on serial numbers, I'm trying to figure out the "26" following the 9MS.

Anybody care to shed some light on this?

Thanks

9MS26 with four numbers following is a 1942 160 inch 1.5 ton made in Norwood, OH.

You can put your VIN in our VIN Buster to see it. http://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/vin/vinbuster.html

So the document indicates the 2 numbers following the MS are the month. Does this mean that the "26" following MS are the 26th month (Feb. 1944)?

9MS26

9 = Norwood, Ohio plant
MS = 160" wheelbase 1.5 ton
26 = 26th month - your guess/conjecture is logical

Let's hope someone else confirms the interpretation of 26
