Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2017 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2017 Posts: 5 | Just recently purchased after many years of searching for it a 1948 chevy 6400 open cab fire engine 235ci, 4 speed with 2 speed rear the truck served over 35 years as line duty engine but now has been sitting since the 90s what are some things i need to look for before trying to fire her up aside from cleaning gas tank and running new fuel line and carb rebuild also what brand 6v batteries do yall prefer and where are yall sourcing brake parts.

I got most of the parts for my 54/55 GMC 2-ton from Rockauto.com (often by using aftermarket part numbers from people here). I have a '37 GMC open cab fire truck, nice driver, yours looks nice, good you have it covered.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires. '47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle. '54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed. '55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
