| | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 375 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 375 | You may recall a previous post where I had bought a 'hydraulic lifter' 235 to replace the 'solid lifter' 235 in my 57 TF. I thought the engine was from a 57 Belair but found out later (check those numbers BEFORE you spend money) that it was a 62 engine.
I thought you may be interested in knowing the problems I've ran into so far:
1. Front motor mounts didn't work. 62 motor didn't have the taps on the side of the block to fit the 57 mounts. I had to drill the cross-member and mount under the front plate like the pre-55's did. No big deal to change.
2. I got a big surprise yesterday when I tried to attach my gas pedal linkage. The post that holds the swivel piece is located about 3" toward the rear on the 62 motor. I had to shorten the linkage from the pedal to the swivel piece and re-arc the curve through the floor. Minor annoyance if you have a welder.
I'll keep you posted on any other difference. I had to do similar things when I put the 261 in my truck. It's worth it, though.
