O.K. got a 235 out of a 1958 chevy car 3 speed, I found a 216 out of a 1951 chevy car 3 speed, can I use this engine and use the parts off the 216 bell housing, flywheel front motor mount, etc,and install in a 49 3100. I've read the tech tip many times just need a yes or no...Thanks

Hy Ted Skidmore, No. While I am no car of that era expert, the car engine bellhousings I have seen have no mount provisions on them, also the mounting pattern for the car transmission is different/smaller than that of the truck, hope that helps.

- Yes, the 216 could be used in a 1949 3100 - direct bolt in (all parts - except maybe you will need a truck clutch housing).

- If you are referring to using the 58 235 car engine - is should also bolt into the 1949 3100, but you should relocate the water pump on the block (and us a truck clutch housing).

Will your truck be 6v or 12v?
- Use the clutch-assembly and flywheel and starter for the appropriate "voltage". The teeth on the flywheel are different for different voltages.
