I'm currently removing paint and rust from the cab down to bare metal, inside and out. Any suggestions on how to remove surface rust from behind the dash? I'm using a wire wheel on an angle grinder and it won't fit behind the dash...too big.
Thanx alot! | | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | I'm doing a frame off on my 53 and I've been thinking about that too. When I get there I might try sandblasting but there are some other options such as POR15 or ZeroRust currently being discussed in this forum.

I've never used anything like that before. Would that get rid of the surface rust or just kind of paint over it to cover it up? I was thinking about using a Dremmel tool with a small wire wheel on it. It would take forever, but it might work. Thanks alot for replying! | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 11 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 11 | I ended up using zero rust, just clean everything up real good, don't worry about removing the rust, and paint (it encapsulates the rust). Removing everything from the dash area including speaker panel, cowl vent,(this will let out all your paint fumes) glovebox door etc. really opens this area up, also if your rewiring everything remove that too along with your duct tubing. This area was never painted originally (now you know why). goodluck, and by all means when your painting behind/under there wear a respirator, and eye protection.
I could have avoided all that trouble if only I had remembered to...
