I have a 1960 261 in my '53 3100 and want to remove the intake and exhaust manifolds to clean and paint them. Can anyone help me identify the correct gaskets for replacement? Part numbers? I'm having trouble identifying my engine on the NAPA online site. Thanks

Use a gasket set for a full-pressure oiled 235 (1954-62)- - - -it's identical.

The only major difference I can think of would be the head gasket. The 261 gasket will have a larger cylinder bore size (3 3/4" instead of 3 9/16") and vent holes in the gasket between cylinders for the "steam holes" in the block and head. Other stuff like intake/exhaust, valve cover, fuel pump, etc. should interchange with a 235.

Besides the 235/261 head gaskets being different:

To be safe, go with a 1956 and later 235/261 gasket/set. The 1954/55 sets might come with the earlier water pump gaskets (although, I have bought 235/261 gasket sets that included both styles of water pump gaskets).

Also, 54/55st truck oil pan gaskets are different from 55-2nd and later oil pan gaskets (but, again, I have bought 235/261 gasket sets that included both styles of of pan gaskets).

use the remflex gaskets for the intake/exhaust, they are about $35, and worth every penny. I haven't actually used them on the truck, but I have used it on many other applications, the absolute best, bar none.

I just installed Remflex intake/exhaust on my '54 235 in flatbed, so far they are great. Just shop around for good price, mine came from Summit.

Remflex gasket bulk material only comes in large pieces for my 503, so I had to make own set, hope it seals well, will comment after I get it going.
