Well about a year ago I posted that I was going to try this on my 53 half T.. Well it worked. It took a lot of work and design. First I took a 94 chevy tilt column and grafted an 06 equinox electric pump to it. I went on E bay and bought the electric conversion box, about $65. I used all the parts from both columns to build it. A lot of measure and cut. With the electric conversion box, it gives the ability to adjust how easy or hard the steering will be. I used the original steering box to do this conversion. I cut the mast of and left 2" of shaft and milled a double D on it. I also used a steering damper on the straight axel to tie rod to take out any play. I'm very happy with this, works like a charm. This set up could very easily be added to a stock column with less work or an I didit column. If any one would like to try this, I would be willing to help you with more info. Contact me at : [email protected]. I hope this may help. The best to all, Steve

Steve, write up a detailed tech tip and submit it to the Editor. That way it will help everyone wanting to do this conversion.

I am all for having a write up on it. I would love doing this on a stock column!
