Hello All,

I searched the forums but found no answer to this question. For now I am after a carb rebuild kit, but I am not excited about paying duty and getting hammered on the exchange rate. That got me thinking about other Canadian bolters and where they source good aftermarket parts from for decent prices. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Hy GMCanada9430, welcome, could you tell us the year of your 9430 please. Do you realize that your truck is actually powered by a Chevrolet engine, as all the Canadian built GMC light trucks were. You have not listed your location in Canada either, could you tell us at least which region you live in please? Things like carburetor kits should still be available at your Friendly Local Auto Parts Store (FLAPS), hope that helps.

Do you subscribe to Old Autos? Lots of parts suppliers in there. As Bobb asks, your location would help. I've went to Bill Peters near Oshawa. He has both new and used.

Try Bill's Truck Stop. They're near Oshawa. They show some carb rebuild kits. The link is for their '47 to '55.1 catalog. Go to page 108.Bill's Truck Stop

I get most of my truck parts from Bills Truck. I was also able to get all new shoes for my 38 Master from them because they are the same ones used in the pickup.

Good Morning All,

I have a 52 one ton pickup, 9434 to be exact. (Truckernix, I know you are still looking for photos and I am half way through getting them uploaded. Just having issues with the image tagging for the link)

Good point on the Old Autos subscription, I need to get that going.

Sorry I forgot to mention I am in southern Alberta, but was looking more for a good online supplier. I can find most odds and ends online in the US but tough to find a good online supplier in Canada that reliably stocks most parts. Not looking for things like fenders and such, just the smaller odds and ends. I will check NAPA for the rebuild kit, but I recently walked away from them when they asked $42 for car wiper blade that I got at CT for $20.

Good to now know what "FLAPS" is. I had assumed it was a US parts chain based on how many folks found parts at this magical place, haha.

I just leafed through the Bill's Truck parts manual. Now that is what I was looking for. Images are very helpful. Thanks guys!

This guy is in Penhold (by Red Deer) and stocks quite a bit of stuff:

Mechanical parts (carb kits, brake parts, etc.) are usually cheaper from auto parts stores. Gary Automotive in Edmonton is an old school guy with no computer and thousands of parts catalogs and can usually scare up a part number for just about anything.

I'm in Calgary area and found KMS Tools (not a typo) in Coquitlam to be very competitive and large stock. They will stock transfer to their Calgary location for no additional cost.

GMCanada9430: How far south in Alberta are you? I'm in Vancouver and get parts shipped to Point Roberts, WA. It's about a 35 minute drive. I take the dog and make a half day out of it. I declare when I come back and have never had a problem bringing stuff back. I was thinking that if you were south enough, maybe ship to a town just across the line. This works if there is a town and there is a company in the business of accepting parcels. The one I go to needs $3.50 for processing. Just an idea. I know the dollar isn't great right now (Getting a bit stronger). I price out locally, nation wide and in the states (with exchange) and see what the best deal is. The US companies ship quite quickly. I like to support Canadian companies but they don't always have what I need. Also, check out Old Car Centre in Langley, BC

For carburetor parts, have you looked at http://www.carbkitsource.com/ ? They are in Alberta (New Norway). I don't have any experience with them (either good or bad).

Bill's truck as mentioned above is great and shipping costs minimal. Even shipped some stuff to me free when he split an order due to couple parts availability.

Here on the 'bolt, look up top.

click on Links, then Parts. There is a huge list of vendors listed there.

Also check out the other areas like the list of services...

I think in total it is over a 1,000 links now.

The Chevy/GMC Truck Parts Vendors list by Woogeroo

There are a few Canadian vendors linked there on my list, but do research about which ones are good/bad.

I too would suggest KMS I've ordered windows, front brake cyls and tons of small parts shipped to the Edmonton store.
The other to look at is The Old Car Center in Langley good selection and great customer service.
I've had issues with the Penhold supplier in delaying ordering prepaid parts so I have not used him in a while.
The Filling Station in Oregon has a huge selection with decent and comparable pricing once shipped to Canada.

The Filling Station also carries some of the more obscure engine parts like shims.
