Then about 2 weeks ago it stuck in 1 st. drove about a 1/4 mi and it shifted and worked ok rest of trip. few days later same thing. It seems to happen after driving for a hour and then sitting awhile. Talked to the trans guy and he gave me a todo list. found nothing unusual .It is intermittent and I hate to leave it with him for to long. any ideas? Fluid is up , no leakes vac line to shift mod is good and the plug for passing gear is clean and tight. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2013 Posts: 863 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2013 Posts: 863 | Sounds like you have a check ball sticking in the valve body. In the 4L60E and newer transmissions GM always recommended putting in a product called "Lube Guard". This product will free up valve body problems.
Most FLAPS have this in stock. Make sure you get the Lube Guard for GM products and DON'T OVER FILL IT!! If that doesn't work then take the transmission back to guy who rebuilt it!

Some of them have a spring wire bail securing the cover, while others just drive in and hold like a hubcap. Remove the cover, using a hammer and punch, and pull the governor assembly out. See if the weights are free to move, and check the gear teeth to be sure they're not worn down in the middle- - - -known as "apple core" wear. If the governor is in good shape, check the vacuum line between the intake manifold and the governor for splits, leaks, or holes. Vacuum leaks will cause shifts to happen at very high RPM- - - -a stuck governor or an apple-cored governor drive gear will keep the trans from shifting at all. Debris in the valve body can restrict the movement of the valves and cause shifting problems, but if that's the case you need to find another "rebuilder". Some guys don't disassemble and clean the valve body (Mr. Bad-Wrench!)

Also noticed that the passing gear kickdown has stopped working. Rather than open it up and void the warranty I will be out side the trans shop monda early. Whith this info hopefully I can guide them in the right direction. Tank all | | |
