Unbelievable....just got a complete NOS synchro assembly ...I removed the two end syncro`s by removing the snap rings without any issues....then replaced them back into the drum assembly making sure that the syncro`s turn nicely after I installed the snap rings again and left them overnight soaking into a container of 90 weight mineral oil for transmissions.
Today I went to continue assembling the tranny and find that the syncro`s will not turn even tho I can turn the snap rings. They are frozen. ...Could the bronze liner that the syncro`s sit in have swelled causing this problem ???

I have been able to free up both synchro`s ...soaked real good with Rust buster type stuff and then tightened down in the soft jaw vice then used the main shaft and the universal joint flange and with a flange tool was able turn them to free them loose. i removed the snap ring to see if the synchro`s were scored or if the brass liner was damaged in any way. All looked good...about an hour later the synchro froze up again just sitting on my bench....
Maybe there is some chemical on the bronze lining in the assembly drum causing it to bind similar to what dissimilar metals do. I will clean up the bronze lining with acetone tomorrow and report back. Any input is appreciated.
How much play or rocking should there be in the synchro`s in the assembly ????

The problem ended up being the snap ring endings where the snap ring pliers would enter had an tilted angle so they dug in slightly into the broze area in the drum where the syncro`s go making it bind when any pressure was applied....problem solved.
