For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2016 Posts: 1 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2016 Posts: 1 | I've got a 50 3100 with an unusual setup at axle housing/center pivot of leaf springs. There is a "seat" held onto the leaf spring by u bolts. the seat has rubber bushing running through and is attached to the perch, that is welded to the axle housing, by a bolt running through the bushings. I cannot find anything referring to or any pictures of this set up. I've got the new shackles and bushings for the ends of the leaf springs and want to replace these obviously worn center pivot bushings while i'm at it. Is anybody familiar with this? | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,901 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,901 | A photo would help. I'm confused by the 'welded to the axle housing, by a bolt running through the bushing' line.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else

Does this thread cover what you are talking about?

You can see pictures in that other thread. That bushing allows movement of the rear end as the springs are compressed and unloaded. Since the torque tube inhibits compression or expansion as the as the springs change their arch this allows for that small movement. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | | | |
