I haven't been around in quite a while, but I'm putting my truck together (58 Chevy 1/2 ton step-side w granny tranny) and I cant remember where this rod goes. Any ideas? Thanks

It looks like it could be a throttle rod?

Thanks for answering. I'm pretty sure all my throttle linkage is accounted for. This rod appears to be a little heavier that that stuff.

The on-line manuals site does not seem to be working.
When it comes back up, I'll look for photos/diagrams.

It is a shift rod for a column 3 speed shifter. The smooth straight end goes through the "loop" clamp at the top and can be slid up or down till the neutral gate is correct and then the locking nut is tightened.

I couldn't find a pic of the mechanism but here is a pic that shows the handle running horizontally under the dash to the left of the steering column.

I think Evan figured it out.

Looks to me like the parking brake rod the goes from the brake pedal lever to the center connection under the cap floor. There is fork that threads on to that thread end.
