I'm thinking of getting a spray in bed liner. I have a Rhino liner in one of my trucks but I was wondering if there is a better product out there? Some people say Line-X is better but I have heard it does not keep it's color well and turns chalky. Any comments?

Perfectly happy with my Line-X lining. I think it will all fade over time but have not seen any chalky linings.

Linex is far superior to the rhino lining. You can have paint added into the mix, it cost about $200.00 more to do so.The linex will not peel like rhino, it is a urethane based coating(3/16 thick). I know it takes a special spray gun that has a heating element in the hose,it is applied around 375 degrees.I was very impressed about the whole process,it was cool.

Has anyone used either of these for the underside of your rear fenders or your stepsides. I have a 50' and was thinking of doing it.

I spoke to a fellow that has a Line-X franchise in Lawrence about shooting the inside of my '66 K10. I have the cab striped to repair the kicks, inner rockers and floor pans. I want to shoot it from the top of the firewall under the dash, down the kick panels, the floor pan and up the back of the cab to the bump-out right below the window. I am also going to shoot the flat surface of the rocker panels at the door sill, due to the wear and abuse from getting in and out of the truck.

The Line-X will provide rust protection, vapor barrier, sound deadening and a slight amount of insulation value, not to mention it will look cool up under the dash instead of the black cardboard fire wall cover and behind the fuel tank instead of unpainted interior. What do you think.

I have the running boards and the inside of the tunnel box(big tool box)of my '53 wrecker done with the spray liner kit that Eastwood sells. It has held up well(8 years so far).I also have my Toyota pick up bed done with Rhino.Metal prep is the key to success!
** 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks,I checked out that Red 65 wrecker. What a sharp truck!!Give us the specs on that beast especially the front winch. Is it a Garwood ex-military?

I used the stuff they sell at walmart it has held up really well. I would be concerned about the weight that would be added if it was linex'd.

We painted the interior under the dash, under the bench seat and behind the seat with the stuff from Eastwood. Then it was painted over with the interior color.

It seems to make the metal thicker and might cut down on road noise and heat (once we get it back on the road). I like it and it seems that nobody will see it once all the parts covering it are installed.

Tony,I think you will be very pleased with linex,it's indistructable.I think you will not hear any road noise with the windows up.I would'nt cover any nuts and bolts with it,you'll never get the loose in the future.

3m makes a rubberized coating called body shutz. I used it in my 1951 chevy truck. It's black, but i painted mine my body color of the truck. They sell a gun that screws ontop of the can,i highly reccomend using this product. The spray gun will also fit onto the 3m undercoat cans.See the link !!

Rhino and Line-X are fairly evenly matched when properly applied. With a rubber based liner peeling is not usually an issue in metal that doesn't flex alot (beds, cabs) if the surface is scuffed evenly. As to fading, have you ever known of any product that retained it's color perfectly? It's a fact of nature that things fade, and black is the worst! There are products similar to tire shine that keep the liners conditioned quite well. And as far as coating the underside of a vehicle or using liners for sound deadening I have had nothing but good luck even with the cheaper Wal-Mart liners. The impact on road noise and heat transfer is well worth the time, not to mention the fact that is seals out rust. The one thing to remember is that if something is already rusty or unsound, adding a liner isn't going to help! Make sure it's prepped, and no matter how you go, it'll be better.

we have a rhino type product on our deck of the wrecker body holds up well, then we got some do it yourself stuff for the other werker and it looked good but dried hard as a rock and chips easly, go with the stuff that stays softer.

LINE X, the only way to go! Have them take the tailgate off and the bolts that hold the gate handle off, and spray separatly.

Fading is not an issue, they now have a reconditioner that can be applied years down the road to bring it black to a rich black.

good luck
