From what I can tell, the sheet metal on the cabs of the 47 trucks are all the same right? I have a Loadmaster 2 Ton. Is that the same hood they used on a 1/2 ton truck? | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | late 47, looks same as 48-53.
Cabs are the same from 1/2 ton up for all Chevy and same up to a GMC 400 series (600 series same/similar?). Excluding COE's. Hoods, fenders and the rest of the front clip is same for 1/2 through 1 ton, then 1.5 and 2 ton Chevy (and GMC) are different, then 400 series GMC is bigger yet. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 331 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2013 Posts: 331 | Hoods, fenders and the rest of the front clip is same for 1/2 through 1 ton, then 1.5 and 2 ton Chevy (and GMC) are different, then 400 series GMC is bigger yet. I never wanted to believe this for the longest time, but I recently had an opportunity to put a tape measure on a 1/2 ton 47-54 truck hood and compare it to the hood on my '50 4100 - it was about 1 7/8" shorter depending on how you measured it. I swear you could put those two hoods on the ground 50' apart and you'd lose your [censored] on a bet they were identical. lol Edit: The grilles on the 1.5 ton and larger 47-54 trucks are also different - albeit seemingly identical in appearance, the big trucks' grilles are taller.

1950 4100 - unrestored and driven weekly for almost no reason at all.
