For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2016 Posts: 176 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2016 Posts: 176 | Hello. The name is Stewart and am now living in Callaway, MD. I have a 55 1st series that I have just gotten out of storage (15 yrs) that I plan on making into my daily driver again. Several items were liberated (guess some other old vehicle wanted them more than mine did; did not even put up a fight) so will have start being on the lookout for these. Spent 17 1/2 years in the AF and have since become jack of alot of trades but unfortunately master of none. Although with help of my daughter (whom I am pround to say is an electrical engineer and works for NAVAIR on the H60 helicopters) I did go back and got an AAS in Auto Technology (did not make me any smarter). Also will be looking for a reasonable machine shop cause I will have to rebuild the engine. So if any of you local folks can shoot me a line on local shops, parts, etc., it would be very much appreciated. and I apologize for everthing being spelled out, but my apostophy does not seem to want to work on this iPad. Thank you all for your time and continueing patience. May all of you have a very Merry Christmas and happy New Year. You came to the right place to get all the help you need to get it on the road again. And Merry Christmas to you too! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Welcome to the stovebolt, Stewart. You can find answers to your questions right here on the bolt. The Advance design 55 1st series is a nice truck, like the one piece windshield, and parts are available from many vendors.
Since this is the Welcome Centre, which doesn't get all the traffic the other forums get, my best advice, even though you did not ask for it, is to post your questions in the most appropriate forum. Engine questions in the Engine Forum, body stuff in the Paint and Body Forum, driveline questions in the Driveline Forum, so the guru's in that particular area can give you some great advice. For those "modifications" you may even check out the HiPo Forum.
Not sure where Callaway is located in Md. but you need to know there is a Stovebolt Homecoming in Mechanicsville at John and Peggy's each April so put it on your calendar. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2016 Posts: 176 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2016 Posts: 176 | Thank you much for the greetings. As to the location of Calloway, I am about 15 miles south of Mechanicsville. Reading though some of the posts, I take it there is a Bolter in Leonardtown (8 miles north), another in California ( 8 miles east), and I believe one in Calvert County (about 10 miles east; right next door to St. Marys County) I think I may have seen a couple of their trucks around. So if yoou happen to know any of them kinda personally, send them my way way please. and thanks for the advise of posting in the correct forums. Stewart

I stayed in Leonardtown last time I was at homecoming. Daily drivers are cool, Cosmo recently put 100,000 miles on his '49 pickup. You just might meet him if you come to the homecoming. Good luck with your truck and as Alvin points out, post your questions where most suitable. And yes, you are physically located close to the editorial offices of this web site (in Oakville, actually). We do have a good number of active 'Bolters in this area and we have activity throughout the year. As suggested above, check in on the ODSS forum and become part of the group!
Glad to have you aboard, John
