The throttle rod on my 1949 3100 with the 216 cu.in. engine is really worn at the pivot points. I have checked all the known vendors for this part with no luck. The rod I need is the rod from the carburetor to the linkage on the side of the block with the return spring tab. Does anyone know where I can get a NEW throttle rod or what are you guys using for this rod with the spring tab?

Tim

My suggestion would be to cut off the worn elbow(s), run a 1/4" fine thread die over the end(s) and grab one (or 2) of these from your local FLAPS.

Tim,

I weld the worn portion and grind back to the original configuration. With some patience, the result is very satisfactory.

Thank you CurtB and Paul for the suggestions!! So, I take it there are NO NEW rods available on the market?

I needed what I think you need. Please forgive, but I found that a Ford rod was available from "Mac's Ford Parts" that fit. "Bob Drake" also others also carry them. Shhhhh, "Loose lips sinks ships"!
