What special socket do I need to remove the rear flange nut? I think it is 1 15/16 nut but a socket that large wedges against the flange ID before the socket reaches the nut. Can not locate a thin wall jam nut socket that size. Can any one offer advice?

Turn down the socket o.d. in a lathe or grind it down to fit. Try not to get it to hot and mess up the strength of the socket

a lathe is your friend. I have turned down the OD of many sockets for such applications.

Try another brand socket. When they get that big the OD can differ enough between brands to make a difference.
Or turn one down as needed, I've done that a few times with no problems.

Thanks to all that replied. The size of the socket turned out to be 2". I had a 3/4" drive socket in that size. I installed a 5/8 bolt through the hole wrapped in electrical tape to fill the hole so it would be centered. Ran a nut down to secure everything nice and tight. I chucked in a drill press on slow speed and filed the OD to fit. Took an hour of time but the nut came off. Would love to have a lathe!

A bench grinder would also work, just make sure not to take the temper out of the socket.
