Does anyone have modern paint codes for the Brewster Green trucks in 1946? I suppose the Black is Black but a correct code would be nice. Lastly, I am interested in the Apple Green for wheels and belt line stripe.

1946 Chevrolet Truck

Brewster Green
Ditzler/PPG 40042

Apple Green
Ditzler/PPG DQE379
Dupont 93-1650

Call PPG Color LIbrary and they might have a formula or a modern offset: try 1-800-647-6050

Dave, You have a very nice and straight '41 pick up. The color is exactly what I am after. My truck, being an early 1947 GMC, and a 1.5 ton, has the wheels painted apple green, the only difference in how your truck is painted and mine. I do assume that the Chevrolet's and GMC's are all painted with the same colors? What are you referring to "Marten Signor Prism #"? Is that a paint code? Is Tim Sheridan a paint shop?

Tim Sheriden is a guy on this site, take a look at his truck, it is REALLY nice. Tim sent me paint codes for PPG I think but I could not get that so he sent me a spray out of his paint. Our local NAPA sells Marten Signor paint, they sent the spray out off to have it analyzed and I now have that mixing code. Prism is there top line of paint.

Hello Again Dave,
Now I know exactly what you used. Is the Prism paint catalyzed enamel? I would certainly like to check your Prism numbers with our local Napa store.

I sent pictures to your private email. I think prism is polyurathane. Catalyzed. Dave

I have another question about proper paint color. What is the interior paint, for the dash door panels and other inside stuff that matches the dash cluster back ground, TAN?

Actually, I would also like to get the paint codes for the interior paint on a 46 chevy truck. I know it is a "hammered" finish. Is there something that needs to be added to the paint to obtain that or can a place like O'Reilly's mix that, as they have mixed all my other paint. Also, is there a "trick" to painting that? Thanks

Did anybody ever get a copy of the modern ppg paint codes for the Brewster Green?

Thanks,

Mike

The current PPG code for '46 Brewster Green is 40042. The current paint codes from PPG and the other companies are listed at this Paint Code link. Scroll down and click on the small paint chip to see it larger. Of course the colors aren't necessarily true on computer monitors, but it gives a pretty good idea of how light or dark the colors were.

paintref.com also has copies of the vintage paint chip documents for many years and makes. For example, staying with '46 for the moment, scroll down a bit on this page for Martin Senour's '46 Chevy commercial paint chip page. Fun site to explore.
