Has anyone tried filling up the carb on the bench, I did with a hose attached to the filter fitting and filled till it couldn't hold any more so i'm assuming the float with needle is working properly. I am not getting any fuel from the pump, wonder if this is normal, I thought I should see gas squirting from the pump, any help would be great. I should mention its a Rochester B cleaned with a new kit about 3 months ago.

When you actuate the throttle lever you should see a squirt of fuel down the center of the carb.

As with most any part, setting for any period of time is hard on them. Work the throttle some more to see if you work the check ball loose, if not, plan on pulling it back apart.

Also, the cups on the accel pump don't like todays gas, or to go dry! (today's gas does not have the lubrication as older stuff, wreaks havoc on the pump cup). I would pull it apart and as Joe said, verify checkball is not stuck and also make sure the pump cup is not torn. When rebuilt, did you make sure the pump bore was clean and smooth? I wrap a strip of scotchbright around some hemostats and spin it in the bore to make sure it is nice and smooth, then put a little grease on the pump cup when I assemble to make sure it does not get moved dry.

Thanks for the replies and ideas, with the dark winter nights in my garage(man cave) I don't have the best lighting and failed to see that the linkage to the pump was amiss, reconnecting it solved my problem, if that's the worst to happen I'm very lucky. its working great and plan on the first start up soon if I have the courage. Always great to have this forum to learn and bounce ideas around. Still lots to learn, thanks again
