I heard mention of a T-5 out of an S10, but no details. Is this swap a possibility? How do I make it bolt up to the 235? Thanks in advance!

If you go to the Inliners web site, www.inliners.org there is a detailed article on the T-5. Click on Tech Tips. There are several individuals that have features on their personal sites about their experiences installing a T-5. One of them is: home.twcny.rr.com/schickling/1940Chevy/index.html You can also do a "Google" search on "T-5" and get some other information about this popular transmission.

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | wingnut nice truck . but i noticed that you don't have a heat riser plate and maybe you don't need one where you live. i just put one on a couple of weeks ago and it made a world of difference in the throttle response. go to my community web site and you can see it. not a pretty site but it works. i also purchased an s-10 trans i will have it installed soon. i went to yahoo and put in s10 transmission and found a good site. i hope i don't have to go to all the trouble he went to. william schicklings 1940 truck page. he also has a 235 in the 1940. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 68 Member | | Member Joined: Jul 2002 Posts: 68 | WE b OLD, nice truck. I tried the link, but it wouldn't work, so I don't know what kind of trouble he had. I didn't have any trouble at all with mine. I did all the usual cutting and drilling and took my flywheel and pressure plate down to the clutch shop and he hooked me up with an early Astro van disc. I've read where some people use a Camaro disc and have to grind the hub to make it work. Not so with the Astro disc. I have a 10 in. flywheel and pressure plate and a 9 1/2 in.. disc. It grabs great.
