Need some referral for a nice original looking floor mat for my 1946 1/2 Ton, and has anyone put rubber over the running boards?

No rubber here on the running boards but I bought the original style mat from Jim Carter for my 45 1/2 ton, same as a 46 and it is very nice material and still looks new after 2 years. However you will need to cut your pedal holes in it, that takes some time and effort.

I purchased a floor mat from Jim Carter and it turned to dust in two years. Never never again, shame on you Jim Carter!

I cut a piece of 1/4 inch thick horse stall rubber mat sourced from Tractors Supply to replace the defective Jim Carter mat. It doesn't have the ribs like the original but the rubber material is holding up well. Way cheaper too.

I saw floor Matt material listed in the Restoration Supply online catalog. That might also be an option. It seems it must be cut to length etc., but might worth checking out if ribbed material is preferred?

thanks, I am not sure if all the mats advertised are the same or if they are different manufacturers. Chevs of the 40's has one and so does Jim C. also Bowtie Bits. Looking for something that looks like it was formed for my truck, and not just a piece cut from a sheet.I do prefer ribbed look. My thoughts on the running boards are maybe there is a similiar shape and size for a car that would fit and look good.My running boards are flat without ribs.

I was looking at the floor mat from American Classic truck parts, it seems to look pretty good. Anyone seen their mat?

It is very likely that all of the vendors sell the same mat produced by one manufacturer, at least that is the case with most of the reproduction parts.

I actually bought two mats from Jim Carter for the 45 GMC. The first one was perfect too but when I cut it I mis-measured and ran it in the truck for about a year before the mis-measured cut bothered me into replacing it with another. Again, both great quality.

I also bought one from Carter's for my 52 GMC that I owned prior to the 45 GMC and also one for my 51 GMC prior to the 52 GMC. All first class quality.

Never seen a rubber floor mat turn to dust. Would like to see some photos of that.......

We NEVER know what we're going to get from one month to the next in most cases. Here's my story.
A couple years ago I was in K.C. and visited JCarter and Classic Parts. The mats from JC and Classic were totally different. I did not like the one at JC and purchased what I felt was the best of the two from Classic. I was not disappointed.
However, as I read comments here, and from personal experiences from some of my trucking buddies, the quality varies drastically with no one in particular being better than the other......except the particular time you buy but alas, most of the time we do not have two to compare side by side. That's a good thing about the Bolt as we can usually get up to date and latest results at the time just before purchase.
(...and depending on who owns the mold and who gives the cheapest quote to make them?)

I think I will try the classic one with the felt pad, I will let all know the results, thanks for the support.

I ordered the mat and padding from American Classic Truck parts in Texas. It came fast and looked real nice. The markings on the back really helped with cutting out for the pedals, 3 speed shifter,emergency brake and high beam switch. If you get one, I suggest cutting the shifter and E-brake holes smaller than the pattern. My E[brake was a little off to the side but it still looks good. All in all, it is a nice addition to my cab and I was able to throw out the old black funky carpeting.
