I want to put a front end under mine but would like some advice on what would be best for the 40...a Nova? Camaro? I put a StangII under my 37 pickup but don't want to go that route. Not many of them left in junk yards and the "kit" is to rich for my blood! (I did the pickup out of a scrap yard) If you can't help does anyone know a hot rod site I could get the answer which is best? Thanks for any help gang. Any purist out there wanting to say this one let me know. I'm not into chopping one up but the 348 engine will look great under the hood

I sold my 1940 Special Deluxe 2-dr Sedan to my neighbor with the stipulation that I would weld in the front and rear suspension as well as help with the chop. I always wanted to chop it so this is something I don't mind doing.
He went with the Fatman Fabrication air ride front suspension with tubular A-arms and the bigger disc brakes. I think the crossmember took me less than an hour to weld in. The rearend was about the same welding time. In the back he chose the 4-link with air ride.

I guess I'm hoping someone will say a certain model Nova or Camaro as I think I can get my hands on a couple if the right year?! Olds sounds interesting. Will make a good conversation as well as the 348 engine.

I would suggest using a subframe off of one of those, because there is a big aftermarket for those subframes. I don't know if they're not wide enough, or too wide, or anything, but they should be pretty close.

It will be a few weeks before I get my shop built but in the meantime I want to be ready to go.
