Lately I've been toying with the idea of switching my '49 two piece windshield to a one piece from a '54 or '55 if I can find a used one.

I am pretty sure that I have read a thread about using a '54-'55 windshield in an earlier truck, but I can't seem to find it.

Can I simply removed the center bar and the proper gasket to make the switch?

Ummm...no. The cabs are QUITE different up there.

I knew that the dashes were quite different even if the basic cab was the same. Well good thought anyway.

You can go 1 of 2 ways. A custom cut v-butt or a 1 piece factory bent there are some on e-bay about $300.00,

I think that I'll just stick with the two piece unit.

In all of my years I can't recall ever being around a 1954. I suppose that it was a poor yielding crop year for the farms I grew up around. Since I'm not attracted to the grill style I'd probably never give much notice to one. I hasten to add that just because they aren't for me it doesn't mean those that have have don't have nice looking trucks.

Vintage Glass somewhere in Georgia makes a one piece windshield to replace the two piece ones. I can't remember the price but it seems it's more than double the price (at least)of the two halves.
