I am not sure if they are reproduced, but original Hyatt or NDH bearings show up on ebay once in a while. Do you know the part number? | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | Can you remove the balls if the races are OK, or can be repaired, get new balls?

Removing the upper race would be a chore, and the lower one not much easier. I had a set that turned out to be the wrong size for my application...sold them to "super55", perhaps he can shed some light on this? I would be inclined to say that with the limited number of miles these old relicts will drive, that replacing the bearings and not the races would be okay...provided that the races are in serviceable condition. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | 1/2 ton and big trucks used the same bearings.

The Filling Station has them for 1/2 to 1 ton trucks. If the lower bearing race is worn on the shaft, you will need a new shaft since the race is machined into it. The race in the lower cap is also part of the cap and is non serviceable. When I needed a new shaft for my gear box, I purchased a 1 ton piece and cut the shaft down to 1/2 ton length, the box and all the internals are the same 1/2 thru 1 ton, not sure of bigger trucks. Parts manual list 41-46 all up to 1.5 ton as the same bearing. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/parts/1929_54/401.htm | | |
