Not exactly an electrical question, but it relates to the gauge cluster. I am about to install my cluster and am wondering how the sending unit routes through the fire wall. When I got my truck, it was using an after market under dash gauge. The sender ran out through the 4 hole grommet in the center of the fire wall. I don't see how the temp sender that came with my replacement gauge is going to fit through one of those tiny holes.

Hi you have to remove the grommet out of the retainer that bolts through the fire wall. The rubber grommet should have a horizontal slit through the center of the small holes allowing you to widen and push the bulb through. When you reinstall it back in the retainer it holds it tightly again.

This firewall layout may be of help to you. As stated in another post , remove the 4 hole grommet and insert the line and then reinstall the bracket and you are good to go!

Thanks a lot. I don't believe mine has slots cut in the grommet - that thought has already crossed my mind. But, they should be easy enough to cut. I just wanted to know the "right" way to do it.

Thanks Harold. Most of that info I had figured out or stumbled into. But it is nice to have it confirmed. Also, the vacuum hose location was new to me.
