The clips are OF COURSE all broken or close to it. My question: Can I buy NEW CLIPS and just drill/rivet them into the original holes??? OR-----Do they make hubcaps that look original/fit on the original rims/and mount on the rim withoutthe clips?? Dumb question probably...but I am aggravated at this dilemma! Thanks for any help.

Also--in 2004, I invented the spotting alert network in stovebolt after seeing so many trucks when driving around. So that means I am cool.

I don't know if they have the same size/shape, rivet hole size, relationship of the position of the rivet hole to the position of the clip, etc. as the stock clips, though. The Chevies used three larger clips and the GMCs used six small clips. Both styles are available.
FYI - I had six original AD rims for my '54. I had 2 GMCs and 2 Chevies blasted and repainted - for some dumb reason I was reluctant to blast the original paint from the best 2 rims. Anyway, both sets had the original clips left on. I bought GM repro hubcaps for my 54 and they fit on both the GMC and Chevy clips. I will check "Chevy Duty" and of course Ebay for the clips. I can drill/rivet them on or whatever if the holes are different sizes. I am scared to see how much they cost...I am...well---frugal? A shame I am not on the net more. quick dumb note about wheels: I only had 4 rusty rough looking wheels until last month I was on a walk at my gf's parent's farm and over the bank of the gravel road I saw a 1/3 or so of a wheel sticking out of the dirt by a culvert...I knew what it was instantly. I dug it up and sure enough----my 16" original wheel #5 for my spare. It is rough, but enough metal to use...isn't that crazy??

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | kgw - the 6 clip wheels may be the correct ones, not sure when the 3 clip ones started, but the 3 is what's original for the TF series, and it was 6 clips further back - at some point they went to only 3 holes - the older cars had 6 clip rims too, so may be for a car
