I was wondering how hard it would be to swap a 389 and a 4 speed into a 1954 Chevy that has the 235/Hydramatic? If I do this swap I am hoping to keep it close enough to original so if I ever want to I can put back the 235 and automatic

no harder than putting a big block olds or a diesel into these trucks.

you will need to remove the crossmember under the bell housing & install one under the engine & trans. You will have a clearance problem with the steering gear.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
