I painted my motorcycle gas tank a year and a half ago with a BASF base coat (orange pearl) and Valspar clear. It came out great, the clear went on nicely and adhered well to the base, and was easy to mix and spray, and flowed out with minimal orange peel. I did it in a homeade cardbord spray booth with a moderate quality HVLP gun with a 1.5 mm tip. No problems at all, I think I would use it again. It has held up just fine to a few drops of gasoline and brake fluid spilled on it, but I keep it in the garage so I don't know how well it holds up to sun. It doesn't scratch easily now that it has cured.
