Any Bolters near the Bay area? I have a 2nd series '55 GMC that is my 3 day/week driver. It's a big window with a Chevy 230 six w/Clifford intake,Holley 4brl., and headers. I am building a Pontiac 400 with tri-power for it. The six will be used for another project. These GMC's came with Pontiac v8 power in the day.

Not in the Bay area but I am in NorCal. Plenty of these trucks around but don't know how many frequent the Stovebolt forums. Even among the forum members this thread is surprisingly inactive.

I Am in Elk Grove.
I would love to get some Nor Cal bolters together.
Every spring I go to a pilot house (old dodge trucks) gathering in Clements CA they get about 30 trucks from Nor Cal. Great group of guys.

I'm in San Leandro, so give a hollar and let's get together sometime. I'm into the old iron, but a Chevy is a Chevy!

Cheers, Dean

I know a guy in Livermore with a "TOWMATER" tow truck. He is in the eastbay Firebird club too. Sometimes he takes it to Blackhawk on the first sunday each month. I saw that reference to a car show in Roseville downtown on Deans "Lurch" page...It would be cool to meet up there as I have family there.

Dean,

That's a great story about Justin. "Just tin"? I find the pickups from the 20's and 30's most appealing of all the Chevy trucks. Mine is a '36 and it's been driven from Southern California to Colorado Springs and while there also to the summit of Pikes Peak (14,110 ft. above seal level) when that was still a dirt road.

No trailer queens for me, thank you very much, although my '36 won Class T-2 (1929-36 trucks) while it was in Colorado Springs for the 1976 VCCA National Meet.

I'd like to meet some other Nor Cal guys who do their own restoration work.

I'm in Paradise, in the foothills of the Sierras above Chico. Been driving my 56 GMC 101 NAPCO darn near daily lately. Also have a 39 GMC 101 short bed in the garage, and a 55.1 Chevy 3600 NAPCO pickup.

Ray, thanks for the kind words.

How about a NorCal Stovebolt Gabfest on May 21, 2017? There's a great general car show called Friendship Day that is a wonderful place to gather, see a WIDE variety of vehicles, and shoot the breeze.

The show is usually held in the Redwood City area. Here's the web site where they will post more info as the date gets closer: Friendship Day 2017

I put it on my calendar and I'll probably bring Justin.

Cheers, Dean

I'm in Citrus Heights, CA. Basically a Suburb on the northeast end of Sacramento. I have a 1962 C10 shortbed stepside. A Northern California gathering sounds like fun.

That Friendship Day event would likely be interesting. Personally, I would be more interested in a smaller more Stovebolt focused event somewhere in Norcal outside of the Bay Area.

Driving Hwy 101 through San Francisco in an antique vehicle sounds like a nightmare. Is there an option between Sac. and the Bay Area to accommodate the Sierra foothill guys?

Mariano.

I'm in the North Bay (Santa Rosa) also. My antique is a '36 Chevy PU that I've owned for over 50 years.

I am in an area that is called "north bay", but up here we do not associate with the Bay Area... A gathering somewhere near Sac sounds like a great idea! I am not a fan of driving in Bay Area traffic in any way shape or form. I will eventually have 3 stovebolts on the road...

I would like to see a gathering of people interested in these old trucks somewhere in NorCal. It seems that many of us not living in the Bay Area aren't excited about driving these trucks there. The North Bay isn't quite as challenging but it is still pretty congested. I wonder how many people would be willing to meet in a more central location. One suggestion would be at the Ag Museum in Woodland. http://www.californiaagmuseum.org/ The truck exhibit they used to have has moved out of state but they still have some old vehicles and lots of tractors. Open to any other suggestions too.

I'm in Gridley and hope to have my 3/4 ton 40 Chevy running in a couple of weeks. A May event works for me.
