Help...
It started some time back when we took apart the side hood panel latches to get all (or most) of the rust off.
In doing so, I think we had some help and the small brackets that hold the rotating rod to the hood side panel are now missing. See the red areas of the following Picture http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag13/catfish_fry/HoodLatch_zpsefg3dum4.jpg
We plan on making new brackets and fastening with SST screws but it would most helpful if someone could measure the distance from the inner side hood surface to the center (or side of rod closest to the hood and post that. This will allow us to make the brackets with the proper space in there.

I am sure you can make these, Or someone can send you 4 of them. I have 2 hoods I am not restoring. Probably a lot of others out there. I will try to make your measurements. I measured from hood not bracket brace to center of rod and I have 11/16". The firewall brackets have some adjustment on them.

The hole for the rod was punched on originals for added surface for the rod rotation.

Measured again at 23/32". Rods probably get slightly warped from closing pressure.

Measured next to verticals from side hood surface.

Brackets are 3/4" on base and 1" to pyramid top on vertical.

If painting you might not want stainless, if do sandblast then etching primer on whatever you use.
