Mine is a 49' 3600 with the stock gas tank and the new pumps at the station push gas so fast it immediately blows back and kicks off. I have to pulse the trigger about a tenth or two of a gallon at a time.

Had some success by turning the nozzle 180 degrees (handle up instead of down) and use slowest setting. Move it around til you find the sweet spot.

In reading this after I typed it, it almost doesn't make any sense, but as previously posted there is a sweet spot but you've got to back the nozzel out as far as is safe to do and use the lowest setting. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,294 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,294 | I haven't had that problem with the two 3100's I have driven. Either we have slow pumps around here or some of you have mud daubers in your overflow pipes.

I drove 2500 miles in my '51 half ton on a trip from AZ to MO a year ago to Kansas City, and never had a problem filling up at any gas station. I just set the handle at max and let it rip. I also have a '42 half ton and have filled it up at various stations in AZ without a problem.
Now my brand new 2015 Silverado is a different issue. Couldn't even fill it at all. Turned out the vent hose was kinked from the factory! Check your vent hose and see if you have a problem there. Kent

It will spit back if otherwise. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 301 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2010 Posts: 301 | I've tried with the nozzel all the way in ,all the way out, but not turned at different angles. It's a fresh restoration and the vent tube is new, replaced it myself. We must have cursed gas pumps in Illinois. Maybe they pump faster so we don't have to stand in the cold so long in the winter! lol I just had to toss that in there since all of you that replied are in warmer climates! I'm an hour from the Wisconsin border.
