I understand the fronts need the 2 prong sockets, but what is the current typical way to get the back lights equipped for turn signals? Is there a conversion there too?

Most rear lights/lamps are dual filament bulbs - brake-light and tail-light, including 1950.

What type/model turn signal do you plan to use? If original year lamps, just get a second lamp for the passenger side.

Left/driver lamp with license plate lens.
Right/passenger lamp with no license lens.

Tail Lamp hanging brackets - for both sides, and in different materials.

Stainless/chrome units are available, as are units with plastic lenses.
Chevs of the 40s and others sell 12v LED units, and Superbright LEDs sells 6v and 121v LED bulbs, if you are interested.

Some of the early tail lights had two bulbs in them. One for brake light the other for tail lights.

Use the wire for the brake light bulb. It will serve also as a turn signal light if the turn signal switch is wired properly.

If it is only one bulb then still need the wire to light up the brighter side of the bulb so it also acts as a turn signal light.
