I plan an aluminum radiater with electric fan and muncie M22 trans. I have heard move the radiater foward. How much room do I need. This may be a dumb question but that has never stopped me before. Why can't I move the engine back and alter the firewall a little bit. That way the radiater looks right. I have not installed moter mounts or cross member yet.

I would set in the truck for a while and see how the pedals would feel moved around a bit. I moved the engine back in my '37 never thinking about how it would effect the throttle pedal location. I wish now I would have something different.

Get your tape out and measure. Moving the firewall aft is a lot of work as well as a loss of legroom.

'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

It's stamped out of good-quality steel, and all the compound curves are already there. Just trim it to fit and MIG weld it into position.

Moving the radiator to the front of the support and modifying the upper and loser valances to fit makes it look original. it changes nothing to the outside appearance. http://www.thehollisterroadcompany.com/media/1947_3800/Fenderon/47truck%20004.JPG this is a 292 with the radiator moved forward. Rad was flush with the frame on the engine side, and custom mounts welded to frame for engine, otherwise no chassis changes seem to have been done. Not sure if rad mounting was even modified.
