For the ODSS brotha's and sista's that do not read much about the Reunion.
Here is an update concerning your ODSS President.
The Presidential torch is being passed and going halfway across the nation.
Read about it here.

With the Stovebolt dust mask in hand, we will get this task completed.

Great teamwork!

Alec often travels to KC to visit folks. Not to speak for him but he might can complete the last leg sooner than April.

Be happy to pick up, but no trips planned as of now.

If we go before April, i will contact Don. If I have this thread correct said transmission will be residing with him just outside of Jeff City.

We are about 23 miles from I-70.
I can meet you up there, to pass the torch, if you want.

I just brought one back from MO in June (now in Doughboy).
Could have just as easily hauled two if the timing was right!

Seems to me, that several years ago, there was talk about a Stovebolt torch, that would be passed around the country, via Bolters in old trucks.
Don't remember what ever came of that.
Tranny/torch, what's the difference?
Bolter's helping Bolter's, is what it's all about.

Great news, the "torch" is in my possession!

Pat and I made the trip yesterday morning and met the gentleman that had it. Very kind and gracious, he was.

Pat will be in KC Thursday evening with the "torch".

Don, PM me your contact information and I will give you Pat's.

Justin has handed the torch to Pat.
Pat will hand it off to me tomorrow evening at the Alderson's BBQ/ private collection get together.
It will then go on display at the Homecoming, may have to do a group picture with it?
Then I have the honor of getting it to the ODSS President.
Don't know how yet, but with shifter in my pocket, Stovebolt dust mask in the other, we'll figure it out.

Bolter's helping Bolter's, that's what it's all about!

Torch was handed off to me at the Aldersons show BBQ last night.
It will be on display at the Reunion Saturday.

The Torch is safe with me in Missouri.
But, it seems like I always forget something.
When we hit the HQ location, I hit the ground running and clean forgot to put the torch on display.
Please fire me for my sins, I don't deserve this honor to carry the Torch or lead this event.
John should be the Torchbearer and event leader.

My humble apologies for this failed mission.

Don,
You were busy enough without having to fool with a 75# pendant on your necklace! I just thought it would be an interesting piece to look at for those who haven't seen one.

Thanks so much!

It's called a Stovebolt dust mask. Jim used it at the Homecoming.

Cosmo
You have three choices,
Wait for me to run it to you next spring.
Find another Torchbearer before then
Or I can learn how to crate it up and ship it to you. Wife and I are doing some traveling the next two weeks, so everything is on hold for a while.
I think someone got a picture of the Torch being passed at the Alderson's Thursday night.
Keep checking out the Reunion pictures.

Then resting on it's back with some other old iron.

Next Wednesday will be fine.
Pm's sent with phone and address.
My evil, redheaded wife is on vacation that day and you may get to meet her.

HandyAndy stopped by yesterday and we had a real good time chatting and looking at the harem.

Maybe we can do breakfast, lunch, or dinner, depending on when you come thru and how much time you have.

Well the torch has certainly had an interesting journey so far...
Bob the seller converses with Cosmo the buyer via email, Cosmo solicits help from the Stovebolt World, Don responds and coordinates a pick-up by Justin who hands off the torch to Patrick who hands off to Don in KC, Don brings the torch home, Alec is set to visit in the area... wow!

None of this happens without John and Peggy starting the Stovebolt with contributions from many!

My wife is also a redhead. That means you also have good taste. That will be a fun time for sure.
We might get there around lunch time if all goes well. Look forward to seeing you and being close to my old territory, Jeff City / Columbia. - Alec

I prepped the Stovebolt Torch today for the hand off Wed.
First wrapped in shipping cellophane, then a big plastic bag and the last wrap will be in an old blanket.
Also added more pictures of the process.

how much does that transmission weigh?

Fred you got me wondering so I let the yard dog in the house to distract the Redhead and snuck her bathroom scale out out the house.
I thought it would be about 80#, but it weighed in at 92.6 Pounds and that is without any gear lube in it.
I also added a proof picture to the Torch album.

The torch should be passed to the next bearer tomorrow.
Updates and pictures of the passing will be forthcoming.

The torch has been passed to Alec and Linda.
Great folks and I'm sure it will find it's destination to our President Cosmo.
Although it is headed west right now, only to head east in a few days.

Pictures of the hand off, have been added to the album , with captions.

Well, this Torch certainly has taken on a life of it's own! Thanks Alec and Linda! Thanks much to Don and Vicki for the 'Torch Hospitality' over the past several weeks!

This reminds me of the adventures "Flat Stanley" that my kids do every year!
