Vans were cool and this was all I could afford at 20yrs old. Had a lot of fun with it and used it to restore my 200yr old farm house. Had it for 20 yrs until it finally rusted away. Have owned several 47-53 pickups since then but have not owned one for 9 yrs. Have always wanted another panel but the few that I found were too far gone. Well fate has smiled on me!!! I Just purchased a 1953 half ton panel with 29,000 org miles on it that has always been garaged that was used for two yrs to haul groceries . I am the 3rd owner It was 80 m away. Its great to be back. Need to research trans fluid leaking down the closed drive shaft according to seller. Had same problem with my 47 did not have resources and parts like we do now. I think I heard there is a new fix for this some bushing to seal drive shaft at trans. Anyone point me where to go? Am sure that many of you have had the same problem. This is one of the first things on my list other is 12V conversion. And hey chipmunk you sure did a great job on your 52. We will have to talk. Is StoveBolt located in Mechanisville Md ? Peggy I am a Eastern Shore boy, will ck out side lot. I love to cruise my back country roads smashing bugs.Have a 47 Chevy Hot Rod coupe, have had 20yrs, a 40 ford coupe and my latest project just finished last winter a Belair 55 2Dr Ht. Unfortunately my wife is not a old car/truck person and promises to leave me if I bring another one home. Well I bought this pannel truck and told her as always after the fact as it is always easier to ask for forgiveness then for permission. Joker I have been out to pasture on the farm for 8yrs was a telecom tech. Last job was in wireless- for SBC . Am thrilled that there are other truckers so close by and looking forward to meeting you all. Bud | | |
