Gonna ask this anyway, but does anyone know where to look for this "X"? I took a wire wheel on a drill and cleaned my flywheel down to shiny metal as best I could. During that process I never recall seeing an "X" on the surface. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | If the flywheel has ever been refaced the X will be gone. It is not that important any ways, unless you are using the original pressure plate.

Ran the pressure plate through my bead blaster to clean it up and it now has a coat of gray primer on it. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,811 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,811 | Apparently the original equipment flywheels and pressure plates were bolted together and then balanced. It's very unlikely to find a clutch system that's survived for 60 years or more without being swapped out. Even if the flywheel X is still there, ignore it! You won't find a corresponding mark on the pressure plate. Jerry
