Hello,
Working on a 53 pickup.
I was going to spray out some hard to reach areas
of window tracks, door jams etc. with
lacquer before sending truck to paint shop.
If the lacquer has time to cure can it be sprayed over with modern enamels ?

Is it worth the work or am I asking for trouble?
I am comfortable working with lacquers but have no experience with enamels.

Please advise.

Enamel can be sprayed over lacquer.
I don't advise lacquer over enamel.
It will lift & pucker.

tyou can spray the laquer, ans piewagn is correct, however, have you at least considered acrylic enamel? with hardeners the new enamels are very easy to work with, have excellant curing time, and you can get a high gloss without the buffing that's necessary for straight laquer.

the cure time with acrylic isn't near as fast as with laquer, but it don't take days before ya can work with it either like the old stuff. oh yeah, the cost is reasonable too. (nothing is cheap anymore).

I wanted to use lacquer on a truck I am now finishing, but could not find it. Do you know anyone who still has it available other than in small spray cans?

Our O-Reilley's auto parts main dist. store in Little Rock still has lacquer, they can mix most colors still(some are no longer avaliable). Supposedly when they bought out all the mom & pop stores & other smaller chains they put the old stock at the main store, therefore they still have lacquer there. Brian
