on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 33 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 33 | I am trying to figure out where the purple wire goes. The green is the coil wire and the purple should be the resistor bypass. The foot starter has one smaller terminal on the side other than the main power cable but there is nothing on it. The purple wire comes from the same rubber plug/ hole in the fire wall. Where is it suppose to be? Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 693 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 693 | i'm going back a few years ago since i rewired my 56 - and its 4am here and dark out so i can't go look - but the purple wire is indeed the resistor bypass to deliver full voltage to the coil while cranking. it goes to that small terminal on the starter switch. it runs inside the cab to the ignition switch wiring and back out to the downstream terminal of the resistor. if i recall correctly, it is a strange wiring arrangement - but schematically it does provide +12v to the coil when cranking.
by the way, this is for the 235 6-cyl. the V8 is wired a little differently | | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 33 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 33 | Thanks that is exactly what I wanted to know. For some reason I had it in my head that it went to the distributor side of the coil. Thanks. Lmd. | | |
