old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 55 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 55 | In 64my dad bought a new 283 long bed 1/2ton. And that began my experience with chevy trucks. Today I have 75 in my hoard. Most are parts trucks. My daily drivers are 1966 GMC,s One is a rough beater Iliterally snatched from the chrusher. Had to pay the scrap man $400. 250 six factory SM420 4 speed long bed half ton. Redo the brakes and clean fuel system and convert to HEI ignition. And ive been using it hard for 3 years. The other is a GMC short step side. 250 six factory powerglide trans. Offenhauser 4bbl hedders bored .040 mild cam its as fast as most V8,s. I prefer the GMC because of rear leaf springs and the grill is real chrome not polished aluminum. and I like that GMC dash the little round speedometer. I like the 250,s better than the 292. those 292,s will pull almost any load. But they use a lot of gas doing it. Ive got a 66 chev 3/4 ton with 4 wheel drive. Divorced transfer case. Im putting in a 250 six and some better fenders and a 61 chrome grill. Im retired now and am having more fun than a duck with two mud puddles. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,951 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,951 | Wait! Did I read that right? However, I'll refer people to you if you have parts available for sale. Let me know what you would prefer. Send me a PM.
