The doors on my 49 have been the biggest bugaboo of all my truck problems. Both doors are the same. The fit nice around the window frame and at the bottom edge. Yet the trailing edge of the doors bows out about 3/8". Just below the handle and above the bottom. I thought it might be weather-stripping but after removing it the fit is the same.
I have new hinges and wonder if these will alleviate the problem. I somehow don't think so. I know the hinge pins on the drivers door are sloppy but can't see how that would affect the bowing out.
Its too bad I sold the spare door I had as they would have been perfect 'guinea pigs' to try.

I just put my doors back on my '49 at the paint shop for final fitment. I already did this months ago, but had to fight them tooth and nail today. We had a bad bow at the trailing edge in one door, but my body man beat it into shape with a big rubber mallet while placing a piece of 2X4 between the bottom of the door and the rocker panel.

Hammers and mallets are great for many uses. Time comes I will try it.
