I like Deve's PVC system that hooks up to vacumme port on the manifold and I like my vacumme wipers has anyone used a valve system whereby if it rains you turn off PVC and turn on wipers. Sound weird but what the heck ....I guess a vacumme fuel pump is a better option who makes a good one that's ethanol proof..although they do take up more space.....decisions.
Thanks, Steve

Can't answer your question, but vacuum wipers stop where they are when you try to pass someone...

Run a double action fuel pump (vacuum booster) and you can probably do both, The booster takes over to run the wipers when the main manifold vacuum is low.

I ran my Willys wagon with PCV valve and vacuum wipers. I'd go for it and add the double action fuel pump if needed. Make sure your wiper motor is lubed properly, as the seal going dry will make it a lot less efficient! (you probably already know that though!)

What's the best way to lube the wiper motor? Did you attatch both lines to a two port fitting?

You can spray silicone in the inlet port while it's running ...or disassemble it and lube with Vaseline, etc.
The line routing is tricky. I ran my wipers to the vacuum/fuel pump inlet side, which then goes to a tee at the manifold where it joins the PCV. I also have vacuum assist brakes so have another tee fitting to that.

I don't remember what I found the best to lube it with, sorry. It was a number of years ago. a light oil that won't gum up if I recall. Air tool oil I think is one of the things I used.

I used the tech tip from Dave on my 58. I run both wipers and pcv off the intake. My wiper motor was rebuilt by the wiper man and I use rain x . I hardly need the wipers with the rain x.

Back in the dark ages, a lot of the little 6-ounce cans of Casite Tune-Up were used to clean and lube wiper motors. I haven't seen Casite in about 20 years but any lightweight tune-up oil should do. (Rislone, Wynn's, etc.) There is an inlet port hose nipple on the wiper motor that supplies the air to the vacuum motor. Attach a short piece of vacuum hose to the nipple and submerge it into the container of tune-up oil and run the wiper motor until the container is empty. It will be drawn into the intake manifold and clean the wiper speed control along the way. Then it gets pulled into the engine and cleans the valve guides!

I run a PCV setup on my 49 216 w/vacuum wipers with no problems running both. I tried 3 different PCV valves until I found the one that would work and also allow the wipers to work. I did a thread on it a yr or so ago that detailed the PCV's part number so you can do a search if interested.
As posted, a reservoir and/or double acting pump will vastly improve the stock vacuum wiper system but I never tried either. I just adjust my driving habits when caught out in the rain. You end up letting off the gas quite a bit grin
